His research interests focus on the preparation and applications of industrial biocatalysts, including protein engineering, enzyme and cell immobilization, chemical and genetic modification of proteins. Biocatalysis and biotransformation reactions are also his research fields. He has published more than 80 peer reviewed papers, with a H-index of 25. Now he is serving as the associate editor of Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, editorial board of Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, and the guest editor of Polymers.
