In May 2022, the students in our school, Xiao-Man Fan and their team members won the second prize in the national finals in the 17th China “Challenge Cup” Academic Works Competition. Previously, they won the grand prize in the Jiangsu Provincial trials and entered the national finals on behalf of Jiangsu University. The project “Structure remodeling and directed immobilization of biocatalysts for preparation of low molecular sugar”, which was guided by professor Ye-Wang Zhang, is aimed to produce the low molecular sugar in a more efficiently and environmentally friendly way. During the two years of preparation, they had published a total of 7 peer-reviewed articles as the first author and applied 4 Chinese invention patents.
“Challenge Cup” National Undergraduate Extracurricular Academic Works Competition is the largest science and technology competition for college students in China. It has a history of more than 20 years and it is also supposed to be the academic “Olympic competition” for college students.
