On May 20th, the School of Pharmacy successfully held the Five Pinetrees Rostrum in Room 1101. Hu Lei, one professor of the Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering, was invited as the keynote speaker to give a lecture titled "Opportunities and challenges for the development of pharmaceutical industry in the period of COVID-19". Li Ran, one teacher in the central laboratory of our school, host the lecture which all undergraduates of grade 2021 in the Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering attended.

In the lecture, Hu Lei mainly explained the development opportunities and challenges of the pharmaceutical industry after the outbreak of the COVID-19 in detail from the aspects of the current development situation, typical stories of outstanding scientists, his own research experience, and the postgraduate entrance rate of our school in recent years. He emphasized that the outbreak of COVID-19 has provided both unprecedented opportunities and challenges for the development of the pharmaceutical industry. To ultimately eliminate the threat of COVID-19, the development of a novel vaccine and a specific drug must be carried out at the same time. He therefore encouraged the students to plan well and seize the opportunity to practice, devoting themselves to the cause of protecting human health. In the end, the teachers and students had a heated discussion.

The students all agreed that through this forum, they not only had a comprehensive and further understanding of the development of pharmaceutical industry under the outbreak of the COVID-19, but also became full of confidence in the development prospects of the pharmaceutical industry.
